Character Information

Character Name: Steve Rogers
Canon: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Canon-Point: Steve is arriving just as he wakes up from the experiment
Age: About 22

History: Born on the 4th July, 1922, Steve grew up in a small home. His mother, Sarah, and father, Joseph, were poor Irish immigrants and gave him what they could but were limited. His father died when he was only a boy and his mother soon followed after a bad case of pneumonia when Steve was in his early teens. He was fostered out and lived quietly, going on to study fine arts (specialising in illustration), but stayed small and scrawny. He wanted to illustrate and write comics for children, but put all that asides when they war broke out and America got involved in the 1940s.

Both of Steve's parents were very pro-America, and took every opportunity to teach Steve that without the great country, they'd be living in even worse conditions - if they were living at all. Steve felt that even though they had died so young, it was because America had taken them in and given them a home that they got to live that little bit longer. This sparked a fire in Steve that was fanned into a passionate, internal flame, which eventuated in his desire to be part of the forces that defended the country in war.

He tried multiple times to enlist, but was constantly pushed back due to a number of physical defects until Dr. Abraham Erskine selected him to be a test subject for his serum, which was designed to make super soldiers. Steve will be entering the game as his treatment is finished.

Personality: Steve Rogers is a patriot, and proud. He is American, he always has been American and he will die for America if the need raised. His passion stems from being so proud of what he fights for. Should he be in a situation where his very foundations are shaken, and he no longer feels that the cause he is fighting for is just, he will step aside to think things through.

Outside of the primal urge to protect his country, Steve is a friendly, warm person who, once you get to know him, is a loyal and trustworthy friend. He will go to the end of the Earth for his friends, and should he be betrayed by a friend, he won't be so quick to forgive. The love he has for those he holds dear runs deep. Trashing that would cause more than heart break.

Steve is also slightly gullible, which leads him to being the butt-end of a number of jokes the soldiers play. He doesn't mind so much, a childhood of few friends and more bullies has given him a strong shell against such things.

He has faith in a higher power and most of the time he believes it to be Jesus, only because his parents were such strong Irish Catholics. He will, at times, be caught praying, but no amount of religion will stand in the way of his need to protect and serve his country and those he loves. He's quiet about his religious beliefs, and only really discusses them if provoked.

The one thing Steve is yet to conquer, is women. If he could just get over the fear of what they may (or may not) do, he'd be fine. Holding a conversation is fine enough, but as soon as he is flirted with, he becomes a blushing violet and would rather excuse himself from the room. The very thought of dating, or even touching a member of the opposite sex is so far from everything he knows right now. And probably will be until a lady hits him over the head with a frying pan.

Steve's mannerisms are generally calm and controlled. He's a simple man outside the battlefield, and it shows rather obviously. He is content to sit and listen to others, he smiles easily around the right people, and doesn't do anything suddenly or without thinking it through. He accepts that he isn't popular among both women and men, and is content to lack attention and praise.

These mannerisms are further emphasised by his speech. Steve isn't a big talker. He'll use few words and be blunt when the moment calls for it. Sometimes his speech can be a little awkward with little pauses and use of the word 'um'. This often happens when he's trying to be casual around people he doesn't know too well. Alcohol often helps. Well, did help until the serum prevented him from getting drunk (he just doesn't know it yet).

In contrast, further down his time line when he is in the heat of battle, Steve is alert. He takes in the smallest details quickly, and makes his decisions without hesitation. He's still controlled and calm, but can act suddenly if the situation calls for it (which, being battle, happens quite often). Afterwards he still shies away from any praise and attention. Or rather, he tries to but he's not often allowed.

Abilities/Powers: Steve doesn't have 'superhuman' abilities, but rather the serum has enhanced his body into perfect condition. So his ability to run incredibly fast and lift immense objects is merely the serum making him the very best he can be. Steve has also been known to have amazing endurance, agility, reflexes and durability, as well as the ability to heal at impressive speed.

Items: Since Steve is coming from the middle of an experiment, he'll only have a pair of trousers. And some underpants.
